Structural bonding of metal alloys and composite materials with heat curing film adhesives is an established process in the aerospace industry. Although easy to handle, films do not necessarily lend themselves to automated and lower cost manufacturing techniques. rnBuilding on many years of experience with Redux® structural film adhesives, Hexcel have now developed a range of two component epoxy paste adhesives. These systems, applied via cartridge or other suitable dispensing equipment, combine the ease of ambient temperature curing with the superior mechanical performance of heat cured structural film adhesives. rnThis paper describes the design of these epoxy paste adhesives, the application technologies investigated, and demonstrates the mechanical performances that can be achieved
