U.S. Green Power Market Experience and Its Enlightenment to China

As the country developing green power the fastest in the world, the U.S. green power market emerged in the 1990s and has experienced exploration and practice for more than 20 years. Through the promotion of state governments and active participation of market players, a market structure has emerged with flexible and diverse procurement methods in which compliance and voluntary markets coexist. Firstly, this paper analyzes the development of the U.S. green power market. Secondly, research has been carried out on two market types: green power and voluntary trading based on the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) and the U.S. green power tracking mechanism, and on the basis of which this paper further analyzes the cases of U.S. green power trading. Finally, it puts forward the enlightenment to China by considering the construction of green power market in China.
