E-Buriki: A Rice Grain Analyzer for Length, Moisture Content and Whiteness

The Philippines ranking 8^{th in top rice producing countries in the world, accounting for around 20% of the Gross Value Added of Philippines’ Agriculture has the highest regards for rice as it is its staple food. Philippines has been known for the quality of milled rice it exports around globe. With this being considered, the proponent took the opportunity in exploring this industry. The proponent found out that the assessment of milled rice grains for the Philippines is still manually done. More so, local consumers have no reference in assuring that the milled rice they purchase is what they wish to have. The proponent thus devised a system where it extracts the physical features of milled rice grains essential in the evaluation of the quality of milled rice grains and categorizes it accordingly. The system undergoes the sample milled rice grains into two general stages which are moisture content measurement and image processing. The proponent was able to display an average of 92.00% for accuracy, 91.67% for sensitivity and 91.67% for specificity for the prototype.}
