Dielectric loads were designed to create a high impedance condition on electrically large conducting planar structures such as window frames. The loads were shown to effectively modify the natural current distribution on a 4/spl lambda//sub 0/ window frame such that it radiated in a similar fashion to a half-wavelength dipole. Since the dielectric loads were adapted from a design originally applied to wires, it is expected that the dielectric loads described here can be adapted for modification of currents on other structures as well.
