An electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure is designed and analyzed with full-wave analysis tool (HFSS) and circuit modeling tool (ADS). The forbidden bands of the EBG structure are obtained from the dispersion diagrams formed by eigenmode solutions with different phase relationships of boundaries. Furthermore, the lumped element circuit models of the EBG structure are developed using standard circuit modeling techniques. Even though the limitation for high-order mode exists, the simulation results of the lumped element circuit model are consistent with the HFSS simulation results.
