The whitened matched filter (WMF) and the finite-length feed-forward filter (FFF) of a minimum mean-squared error decision feedback equalizer are compared for use as digital prefilters in a multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) receiver front-end. For systems that are single-input, single-output (SISO), existing literature has shown the FFF approaches the WMF in the limit as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and FFF length go to infinity. In this paper, simulation results are given which show the same appears true in MIMO systems.
