Recent information theory results have demonstrated the impressive spectral efficiencies of multiple-input-multiple-output wireless communications systems. To exploit this potential Bell Laboratory layered space-time architectures (BLAST) have been proposed. We introduce two new iterative frequency-domain BLAST receivers for highly dispersive channels. We consider the use of single carrier modulations with frequency domain equalization (FDE) techniques, which are known to be excellent candidates for severely time-dispersive channels while maintaining a low complexity. Simulation results show that we can have excellent performance in those channels, with BERs close to the matched filter bound after just a few iterations.
