Improvement in cardiac function and quality of life are the major outcomes of cardiac clinical trials. Introduction of new treatment modalities in cardiology are steered by various well-conducted clinical trials. Electrophysiological, morphological, anatomical histopathological and demographic information provide vital clue to the treatment of any cardiac disease. Clinical trials test and bring more vital information regarding new treatment strategies. Clinical trial management and quality assurance is a complex process. This, at present is implemented manually or supported partially by computation and or automation. Such a system is prone to errors, delays, and obviously is expensive. Various algorithms, internet and other related technologies are already in the forefront to support different aspects of clinical trials. Remote randomization, data mining, processing tools, information traffic and communication protocols are some of the aspects of it. Though discrete ones are available, a composite center with such technologies tailored for clinical trials is not yet available for clinicians. The authors are proposing a framework for a virtual center to support clinical trials addressing the above mentioned issues.
