Study of the voltage behavior of water tree deteriorated XLPE cables by signal current detection mode for insulation diagnosis

We report on the performances of the detected signal current during in-service insulation diagnosis of water tree deteriorated XLPE cables as a function of the behavior on applying a test voltage. The test voltage used was a commercial frequency- AC voltage. One of the specimens used had sufficient water in the water tree deterioration, another had no water in the deterioration.
