The bistatic system contains a transmitting station and a receiving station. In this paper, it is assumed that the measurements of T station are the slant range and the azimuth referred to T station and the ones of R station are the range sum (target to T and R) and the azimuth to the R station. The method of 2-D target-position location is firstly described with the measurements of T station. With the inaccurate assumption of the target height, the accuracy of the target-position location is discussed. Each measurement defines a surface of position (SOP) on which the target must lie. The SOPs derived from the noisy measurements will not usually intersect in a single point, a statistical analysis of the target-position location accuracy is presented. The improved algorithm and the similarity analysis is presented respectively. In the environment of electronic countermeasures, the data of the T station may not be obtained. The algorithm of 2-D target-position location and its accuracy analysis with the measurements of the R station is given. The resulting location ambiguity is discussed. Finally, the constant-accuracy contours are drawn to show the location characteristics by means of computer simulation and the conclusions are drawn through analyzing the results.
