A method for reconstructing the complex permittivity profile of lossy dielectric objects from measured scattered far-field data is presented. From an integral representation of the electric field (EFIE) and applying the moment method solution, an iterative reconstruction algorithm based on the conjugate gradient method is derived. A new, regularized procedure is proposed based on the Markov random fields model which allows a smoothing of homogeneous areas while edges are preserved.
