The ocean acoustic environment in the lower Chesapeake bay: factors influencing the forward problem

Seasonal changes in the vertical and horizontal sound velocity field in the lower Chesapeake Bay were found to produce conditions favorable to cross bay sound transmissions in the summer and not in winter.
