In high-frequency radar systems, it is difficult to directly apply conventional adaptive beamforming Io localize source signals due to the high sidelobes from the non-Gaussian distributed sea clutter. Suppressing the high sidelobe level is necessary to enhance the detection performance. There are several sidelobe control approaches formerly proposed, however, there performances all depend on an arbitrary preset threshold. In this paper we propose a new algorithm to obtain the optimal threshold (loading factor) and low sidelobes simultaneously and automatically. We also derive the inter-relationship among those sidelobe control approaches under the second-order cone formulation structure theory.
