The effect of the imperfections of the commercial Faraday rotator mirror due to the large temperature dependence of its Faraday rotator angle is analyzed, and its influence for polarization changes compensation induced by birefringence in reciprocal photonic circuits is discussed. Currently, the Faraday rotators are made with ferromagnetic materials, Y/sub 3/Fe/sub 5/O/sub 12/ (YIG) and Bi-substituted garnets (BIG), whose Verdet constants are highly temperature dependent.
