Seek distance in disks with multiple independent heads per surface

In this paper, we have developed two generalized analytical models for evaluating the seek time of multi-head disk systems. We show that the overall seek time and the basic service time of a disk may be significantly reduced by using two or more heads in disks which in turn improves overall system performance.
