The feasibility of line-drawing (handwritten text and graphics) transmission is investigated in the indoor and outdoor radio environment. The indoor and outdoor radio channel is modelled by Rician and Rayleigh fading, respectively. The effect of error sensitivity on the line-drawing quality degradation in the hostile indoor and outdoor mobile radio channel is presented by a typical example. Efficient encoding of handwriting is realised using differential chain coding (DCC). Performance is evaluated in terms of bit error rate and packet success probability.
