To take advantage of electronic publishing, it is necessary to understand its capabilities and limitations. The flexibility, accuracy and cost of traditional layout and paste-up methods are compared to the newer computerized layout methods, based on actual experience. Techniques of getting the best results are presented, and the author discusses how much personal effort is required. The appropriate use of color and how to best handle charts and photographs are described.
