The diversity technique with optimal partial decision combining is addressed for frequency-hopped spread spectrum with binary noncoherent FSK in a shadowed Rician fading land-mobile satellite channel with partial-band tone jammer. The worst-case smart jammer for the cases of symmetric and nonsymmetric diversity branches are considered. The Chernoff upper bound on the bit error probability is derived for performance analysis. It is shown that, with the Chernoff bound, the min-max problem in the case of a smart jammer can be reduced to a minimization problem with respect to the parameter of the Chernoff bound. This minimization problem call be solved by using numerical optimization techniques.
