Linking the bands of the MOT spectrum through product design: an internationally applicable management operation for reconciling divergent view of MOT

摘要

An attempt is made to reconcile divergent views of management of technology (MOT) by emphasizing the role of product design as a most important attribute/component of the MOT strategy and by relating MOT to other identifiable parallel broad-management parameters/philosophies, such as total quality management, total productivity, technology transfer, and the more encompassing concept of life-cycle enterprise management. The current status of cooperative efforts is examined, and product design is considered as a foundation for motivating cooperation and reducing the risks of decisions.
