Computer algorithms for the dynamic Green's functions have been derived. They can be used to determine the response of ultrasonic receivers to the ultrasonic energy scattered in specific materials insonified by the output of known ultrasonic sources. Of the various configurations studied by the authors, the one involving two transducers in a liquid medium facing a solid specimen most directly simulates conditions often found in materials testing. With the transfer function between instantaneous local pressures at the source and the receiver dependent only on two geometric distances, iterative computations can readily be used to simulate the outcome of realistic experiments. Simple formulas are derived for the explicit computation of the Green's function, which in turn can be used for time domain simulations.
