The electromagnetic dispersion characteristics in a waveguide partially filled with a chiral material are presented and discussed. The dispersion relation is numerically evaluated and plotted for some particular cases. It is observed that the separation of the propagating field in two circularly polarized (right/left) modes, characterized by different propagation constants, is strongly affected by the chirality factor and the discontinuity in the electromagnetic parameters. When the electromagnetic discontinuity is removed, the chirality factor has a reduced effect on the propagation characteristics of the electromagnetic field.
