Application of the three-phase drive technique in electric motive power units of the German Federal Railway

Costs, serviceability, availability and low energy consumption, altogether the efficiency of the use of motive power units, are of major importance for the operating results of every company. Therefore, it has always been the objective of the German Federal Railway to increase the economic results of traction, wherever possible. In this connection, the author attaches particular importance to electric motive power units.
