Second harmonic generation from molecular adsorbate gratings on surfaces and in planar waveguides

The authors investigate the nonlinear technique of second harmonic generation from molecules adsorbed at the surfaces of isotropic substrates. They apply the adsorbate layers in the form of a grating in order to enhance the weak surface signal above the background signal from the bulk.
