Industry/joint services automatic test project: progress report

The Industry/Joint Services Automatic Test Project had its beginning in May 1975 at a joint NSIA/AIA meeting where the Navy presented their problems associated with the growing use of Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) in the Fleet. The industry Ad Hoc Automatic Test Project for the Navy, under the auspices of five industry associations, commenced September 1975. A final report was issued April 1977, highlighting the lack of R&D funds for ATE and the lack of proven management techniques in the acquisition and use of ATE. In August 107, the current project commenced when Mr. Barry DeRoze (office of the Secretary of Defense) asked the five industry associations that sponsored the Navy project to continue the project for the Joint Services. A workshop was held in April 1978 attended by more than 800 persons; the final report is scheduled for issue in the spring of 1979.
