摘要

A novel,at that time undnown,modification of combustion that was further termed the solid flame was discovered by Merzhanov,Borovinskaya,and Shkiro at the Research Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Chernologolvka in 1967 [1].Strictly speaking,the solid flame is a process of combustion wave traveling ,in which starting final,and intermediate products are in their solid state throughout the process,even at maximum combustion temperatures.Further,the solid flame was found to be a widespread phenomenon.It may be expected to occur in the mixtures of elements that undergo highly exthermic reactions and give refractory products (Nb+B,Ti+C,etc.).
