Containment of chemical solutions used in pulping and bleaching processes for paper mills has been an ongoing issue. The bleaching solutions have been the most difficult due to the oxidizing nature of the chemicals, especially chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, and hydrogen peroxide. The life cycle of these components can be as short as six to twelve months.
