摘要

An experimental study of vortex geenrators for hydraulic applciations has been performed.the mixing obtianed by the presence of the vortx generators has not been addressed at this stage,but the main purpose of the study has been to get insight into the effects of cavitation occurring about the device.Three different vrotex generator principles has bene usd,two with sharp leading edges and one smooth model with less added weteed area,in order to gain understanding of the geometries influences on the vortex geenrator deisng.the experiments showed that the goemetry of the vortex geenrators was very important,both ocncernign the mixing that could bye visually observed,and concernign the cavitatin patterns.It is concluded that aplciation of vortex geenrators in e.g. water jet inlets is both possible and advantagesous,but that the devices should be used with great care.
