Long-term Corrosion Behavior of Aluminum Alloys in Xiamen Total-immersion and Tide-range Region

Series Alloys have been tested for 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 years in total-immersion and tide-range region of Xiamen marine area. Such facts were found in the test. LF_6M(aluminum clad) did not appear measurable localized corrosion in 4 periodic time of 1~8 years, but in 16-year period serious localized penetrate corrosion occurred. The localized corrosion of LF_6M in tide-range region was worse than that in total-immersion region in every test period. Localized corrosion of LF_2M, LF_2Y_2 and 180 Ys augmented with the prolongation of time in both regions, and the corrosion in tide- range region was worse than that in total- immersion region. Severe spalling corrosion occurred in 180Ys samples, and it augmented with the prolongation of time. In the article, we discuss the corrosion behavior and rules of the series Al alloys, and their rust protection quality as well.
