Quaternary Evolution of Eastern Piedmont Floodplains and Stream Channels:Policy Implications for Urban Stream Restoration

Urban stream restoration is plagued with the risk of failure primarily because of arnlack of understanding the differences between urban and rural hydrology. In addition,rnthere are also much larger differences in regional stream restoration practices associatedrnwith the Quaternary history of floodplain and stream channel evolution. This paper is arncontinuation of Schlindwein (2004); unlike the previous paper, which concentrated onrnphysical phenomenon, this paper will place stream restoration into a broader Quaternaryrnclassification and then compare and contrast policy and practice.
