This paper demonstrates the potentialities of vertical electric soundings (VES) for detectingrnthe spatial position and electrical conductivity of anomalous structures in the ocean. We havernconsidered a number of specific features of the equipment, as well as the processing andrninterpretation of deep-water sounding measurements. The general principles are shown withrnthe data materials of a unique field experiment. The data were received in 2004 by specialistsrnof Sevmorgeo State Company in the course of sounding the hydrothermal ore field Logachov-Irnin the Atlantic Ocean with the underwater geophysical system RIFT [1].
