Based on the research _ anti-slide stability in deep dam base of 16 # and 17 # monoliths of Wudu gravity dam which located on Fujiang river in Sichuan province, and according to the numerical analysis and geo-mechanical model test, the deformation, stress and dam base stability of the two monoliths were analyzed. Firstly, characters of deformation and stress distribution of the dam were analyzed by nonlinear FEM analysis; Secondly, 3D geo-mechanical model was built according to geographic condition of the project, and failure test by overload method was carried out. From the test, the deformation rule of the dam and rock, and the safety of anti-slide stability were obtained. The rule of stress distribution of the test was consistent with the result of numerical analysis. Finally, based on failure mechanism of dam base, the weakness of anti-slide stability on dam base was found out, on which the scheme to reinforce the dam was based.
