Abstract: The nonlinearity of the wire-grid liquid crystal lightvalve (WG-LCLV) is used to implement the nonlinearjoint transform correlator for optical patternrecognition. Experimental results and computersimulations show the nonlinear characteristic of theWG-LCLV can produce well defined correlation peak andhigh peak to noise energy ratio.!9
