Axial flow turbines developed for wave power conversion turbine systems are focusedrnfor utilizing extra-low head tidal power. Their turbine characteristics in steady flow arerncompared with that of previously investigated Darrieus turbine, and turbine behaviorsrnoperating in a flow induced by tidal range are numerically estimated. The impulse turbinernwith self-pitch-controlled guide vanes indicates the most economical advantage inrnutilization of tidal power as generating the largest head difference between the sea andrnpond surface levels.
