This update reviews recent results of physical and chemicalrntesting of Si3N4-bonded SiC sidelining material for aluminiumrnelectrolysis pots, as well as the corrosion mechanisms of SiCrnmaterials under electrolysis conditions. New test methods havernbeen developed to show how these materials perform in a harshrnoperating environment.rnThe attack by low temperature bath was tested on SiC bricks, alsornwith SiAlON and N-SiC as binder phase. Reverse reactivernsintering has become an important manufacturing process forrnSi3N4-bonded SiC sidelining materialrnThis review updates [1, 2].
