Optimisation of tribosystems in dental instruments

摘要

Dental instruments, commonly referred to as handpieces, are used by dentists during dental treatment. The performance-optimisation process results in smaller mechanical elements and higher rotating speeds. Specific working conditions, limitations and the lubrication situation are described in this paper. Important parameters for tribological investigations with model specimens with different lubricants are presented and achieved results are discussed on the basis of experimentally determined loss of mass on the gearwheel samples. Additionally, lubricants with the best performance in the screening tests are compared with results derived from time-consuming tests with real handpieces.
