SIZING COALESCING SEPARATORS

Generic sizing criteria, when used to size coalescing separators, can often result in oversized or undersized vessels. While the former is costly from an initial investment and maintenance perspective, the latter is extremely costly as it fails to provide adequate protection to downstream equipment. The purpose of this paper is to present the test procedure used to establish the capacity of coalescing separators. Comparative sizing is also presented with different types of coalescer media. The benefits of primary separation are highlighted.
