A numerical simulation study of enhanced oil recoveryrnalternatives has been conducted for a reservoir characterizedrnby a thick oil column having varying crude oil compositionrnand associated transport properties with depth. The highrnasphaltene content of the crude, together with indication ofrnplugging if precipitation is allowed to occur in the reservoir,rnhas forced the maintenance of pressure by injection. Thisrnstudy examines the efficacy of alternative injection processes.rnDescribed is the procedure used to represent a miscibleimmisciblerntransition, as anticipated to occur betweenrninjectors and producers, in a pseudo-miscible simulator,rnstarting with the results of slim-tube experiments. Reservoirrnstratification in the representative cross-section model used forrnthe simulations is based on Lorenz functions. The modelingrnwork indicates significant sensitivity to both process and wellrnconfiguration, with continuous gas injection predicted tornrecover 0.03 to 0.09 OOIP more oil than water injection, andrn1:1 WAG predicted to recover 0.06 to 0.10 OOIP more oilrnthan continuous gas injection, depending on the wellrnconfiguration.
