Chinese Teaching and the Internet: Utilising the Advances of Information Technology

There have been at least four major revolutions in human communication which might be thought of as precursors of today's information society: (1) the development of spoken language; (2) the development of writing; (3) the development of printing; and (4) developments in telecommunications. Now as the Internet has provided a great opportunity to explore the potential benefit to teaching and learning brought by telecommunications technologies, we should take this challenge to find new ways in which the quality of Chinese teaching can be enhanced. This, of course, requires a balanced coordination of careful planning, considered methodologies and, above all, innovative approaches.
