Abstract: The reaction of the cyano radical (CN) with ethane(C$-2$/H$-6$/) was studied using time resolved infraredabsorption to monitor the product hydrogen cyanide(HCN) in individual ro-vibrational states. Pulse laserphotolysis was used to provide an initial excess of theCN radical and the time dependence of individualro-vibrational states of the high frequencyantisymmetric stretching mode of HCN (0,0,v$-3$/) wasfollowed. These experiments reveal that the initialproduct state distribution of HCN is not highly excitedin the HCN(0,0,v$-3$/) vibrational manifold.!15
