EDFA application to optical fibre based measurements

摘要

EDFA are progressively being introduced in Optical fibre Measurements.The paper highlights the need for EDFA metrological characterisatin based on a calibrated syste.An example of PMD measruement is presneted for field measrements recurring to an EDFA characterised with a system of very low uncertainty adn good repeatability.The increase on the dynamic range of the PMD measurement system reached 15 dB depending of the configuration.Problems met are discussed briefly.
