JS (SH) 93-37 A SOYBEAN VARIETY SUITABLE FOR INTERCROPPING IN SUGARCANE UNDER CAUVERY COMMAND AREA

Soybean variety JS (SH) 93-37 is highly compatible a more suitable for intercropping with sugarcane besides yielding 36 per cent higher seed yield than the already recommended variety KB-79. Intercropping and incorporation of soybean residue has great prospects for introducing soybean as protein rich multiutility crop in Cauvery command area of Karnataka. Physico-chemical properties of the soil have improved due to intercropping and incorporation of soybean residue in sugarcane. Intercropping soybean variety JS (SH) 83-37 in sugarcane was highly remunerative with higher net returns and cost benefit ratio (1.67) with an additional income of Rs. 26,440 ha~(-1).
