FRESH PRESSMUD CAKE - SOLUTION FOR WINTER HARVESTED RATOON CANE

A field experiment conducted at the research farm of U.P. Council of Sugarcane Research, Shahjahanpur during 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2002-03 revealed that significantly more number of shoots, millable canes and cane yield were recorded in February started ratoon (T_8) which was statistically at par with December started ratoon applied fresh sulphitation pressmud cake (SPMC) @ 10 t/ha (T_2) and intercropping of potato (2 rows) with December started ratoon (T_3). While, CCS percent in cane was found to be almost same under various treatments. Maximum benefit cost ratio (2.58) was obtained in February started ratoon followed by December started ratoon applied fresh SPMC (2.42) and intercropping of onion (4 rows) with December started ratoon (2.37).
