Traditional paper based on lignocellulosics might be termed o-paper (organic paper) in contrast to synthetics and competitive products, particularly e-paper. This paper discusses the prospects of o-paper in a totally new world of competitive products for its traditional uses - the 3 Ws. In Writing, the threats are E-media, e-ink, e-paper, e-books, etc. In Wrapping, the threats are Synthetic papers, Returnable Plastic Containers (RPCs), smart polymers, inflatable bubble wrap, fluted plastic, etc. In Wiping the threats are SAMs (Super Absorbent Materials), non-wovens, etc. The paper discusses forecasts for traditional paper in a future world where it is difficult to predict«where technology will take us, whether humans will completely switch to e-media, whether o-paper might eventually be demonstrated to have any environmental or product advantages?
