Taiwan makers are optimistic of growth in the e-paper sector despite competition from other technologies. The launch of Apple's iPad, which adopts LCD, recently reignited the rivalry between the two lines. The former is being compared with Amazon's Kindle. With the island being the world's main production hub for e-paper display modules, suppliers are boosting investment in the segment. Currently, four companies hold the related proprietary technologies.
