The effect of ammonia adsorption upon catalytic activity and selectivity of cationexchangedforms of Y zeolite and natural clinoptilolite (deposit of Georgia) in ethanoltransformation was investigated. The oxidative dehydrogenation of alcohol is accompanied bydehydration to ethylene and diethylether and deep oxidation to CO_2. Ammonia is found toblock the acidic active centers of dehydration of Y zeolites and to promote the oxidativeactivity of samples with transition metal cations. The role of the ion nature for the catalytictransformation of ethanol was shown by a considerable increase of carbon dioxide formationafter ammonia adsorption. The cation - oxygen associates have been destroyed underammonia influence, and NH_3 molecules form with cations coordinated-unsaturatedcomplexes.
