PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for modifying zeolites to improve its adsorption ability, enhancing the adsorption power, increasing the adsorption capacity, and further providing the selective adsorption of ammonia since the adsorption power and the adsorption capacity are not always sufficient while there are the zeolites of a specific structure as an adsorbent material with the possibility of selectively removing ammonia. PSOLUTION: The zeolite to selectively adsorb gaseous ammonia is chosen, is modified in the surface with a compound of phosphoric acid or sulfuric acid or the like which easily binds to ammonia, and is turned to a phosphate group or a sulfate group. Thus, the ammonia is adsorbed by both of the micro pores of the zeolite and the sulfate group so that the adsorption power is improved and the adsorption capacity is increased. By supporting such a new ammonia adsorbent material by a filter, an inexpensive material is supplied for directly adsorbing and removing the gaseous ammonia. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
