Morphodynamic and Current Characteristics in Min Estuary, China

摘要

Min River is located at the southeast part of China, connecting with theEast China Sea through Taiwan Strait. It is a mountainous river withstrong tide effects while the current field is complex at Min Estuary dueto the existence of several islands and waterways. As transportation andeconomy are developing rapidly at the estuary region, it is particularlyurgent to study the tidal current features and morphodynamic processes.A 2-D hydrodynamic model for the estuary and its adjacent areas isdeveloped to simulate and analyze the characteristics of tidal current. Itis shown that the current characteristics are significantly distinct duringflood tide and ebb tide. Results can provide a useful reference for theengineering constructions and management in Min Estuary.
