摘要

The objective of this investigation is to study the vortex-inducedvibrations (VIV) of submarine free-span pipelines. The uniform flowpast a free span is simulated by using a standard k-ε model inconjunction with finite volume method and SIMPLE algorithm. Thestructural motion equation is discretized by Hermite interpolationfunctions and Galerkin method. In numerical examples, analyses ofturbulent wakes, structural responses, induced forces and effects of the gap ratio on them are carried out respectively. Lock-in phenomenon isalso discussed in detail. The results, compared with the experimentaldata partially, show that the present method is efficient to study theVIV problem of submarine free-span pipelines.
