This paper presents modelling approaches and simulation results for a combined solar and wind energy resources designed to supply energy for remote households and small scale agricultural farm located in different mountains areas. Simulation softwares used for the design of renewable energy system are overviewed Concerning to the real system set-up the electrical energy demand, the solar energy availability and the wind energy availability are taken into account. The simulation results were carried out using the Solar Design Studio 4.0 software package. The results include the energy system parameters, and also the energy performance from the different sources. Payback time estimations were also performed.
