The paper analyzes the interaction among the major barriers, which hinder the effective and efficient implementation of Construction Projects in India. A key task of top management is to diagnose those barriers which are critical to implementation of projects. Existing models have focused on diagnosing these barriers independently, lacking the holistic view in understanding the barriers. Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM ) methodology is applied to understand the mutual influences among the barriers which can aggravate few more barriers and also influences the independent barriers. It is observed that there are some barriers, which have both high driving power and dependency, thus needing more attention. Finally, the implications for managers and policymakers involve in managing large complex project is discussed.
